Welcome to my Newsletter!

I’ve toyed with the idea of launching a Substack for a while, but haven’t found the time, nor a good enough reason to invite myself into peoples’ inboxes. But I think my recent appearance at the United Nations Security Council offers the perfect opportunity to get this off the ground.

My first real post will be the remarks I gave, complete with citations for all of the facts I presented. Later on, I’d like to expand on those remarks in a longer piece. After that, I plan to keep publishing other investigations, reviews and whatever else comes becomes postworthy.

About Me

My research and interests are almost all political with a main focus on how media systems relate to the geopolitics of the American Empire. Over the past year or so, I’ve been looking at how the media environment has reacted to the war in Ukraine. My work has been published in Fairness and Accuracy In Reporting (FAIR) and republished in places like Salon, Monthly Review Online and Scheerpost.

This fall I will be continuing my second year as a PhD student at Indiana University - Bloomington where I study Informatics. I am also an organizer within graduate workers coalition at IU, a group of students fighting for better working conditions and the recognition of our union.

About This Space

One of the first things that struck me about Substack relative to other platforms is that the comment sections are far more civil and useful here. Substack gives a unique opportunity for readers to engage with writers in a constructive way, and I look forward to engaging with it. I’ll have notifications turned on for comments and will try to reply to any in a timely fashion.

About Money

For now I’m keeping everything I post free and open to the public, which means that the subscription option is more of donation to help fund and support my work. At a later date, I will think up some goodies to reward anyone who chooses to donate.

Thank you and stay tuned!
